Study:Changing the environment within bone marrow alters blood cell development
Changing the environment bone marrow blood cell development
2017/3/14
Researchers at the University of Illinois report they can alter blood cell development through the use of biomaterials designed to mimic characteristics of the bone marrow. The findings, reported in th...
Effects of an 8-Month Ashtanga-Based Yoga Intervention on Bone Metabolism in Middle-Aged Premenopausal Women: A Randomized Controlled Study
Yoga Sun Salutations bone formation bone resorption bone mineral density bone strength
2016/2/23
Although Yoga has the potential to be an alternative physical activity to enhance bone health, there is a lack of high quality evidence for this type of intervention. The purpose of this randomized co...
Effect of Nasal Calcitonin on the Health-Related Quality of Life in Postmenopause Women Affected With Low Bone Density
Osteoporosis Oteoporosis Postmenopausal Quality of Life Calcitonin Bone Density
2015/11/9
Background: Physical activity and mental health could be affected by osteoporosis and various therapeutic options such as calcitonin may influence Quality Of Life (QOL) of these patients with Low Bone...
Bone material properties and mineral matrix contributions to fracture risk or age in women and men
collagen osteoporosis
2014/12/4
The strength of bone is related to its mass and geometry, but also to the physical properties of the tissue itself. Bone tissue is composed primarily of collagen and mineral, each of which changes wit...

Nanoindentation has been widely used to study bone tissue mechanical properties. The common method and equations for analyzing nanoindentation, developed by Oliver and Pharr, are based on the assumpti...
Parathyroid Hormone Enhances Mechanically Induced Bone Formation, Possibly Involving L-Type Voltage- Sensitive Calcium Channels
parathyroid hormone bone formation
2014/12/4
PTH and mechanical loading might act synergistically on bone formation. We tested the in vivo effect of the L-type voltage-sensitive calcium channel (VSCC) blocker, verapamil, on bone formation induce...
Exercise-Induced Changes in the Cortical Bone of Growing Mice Are Bone and Gender Specific
mechanical properties pQCT matrix changes
2014/12/4
Fracture risk and mechanical competence of bone are functions of bone mass and tissue quality, which in turn are dependent on the bone's mechanical environment. Male mice have a greater response to no...

2014/12/4
The relative biomechanical effects of antiresorptive treatment on cortical thickness vs. trabecular bone microarchitecture in the spine are not well understood. To address this, T-10 vertebral bodies ...

2014/12/4
Introduction Bone turnover suppression in sites that already have a low surface-based remodeling rate may lead to oversuppression that could have negative effects on the biomechanical properties of bo...
