近日,由英国牛津大学植物科学系Guillaume Chomicki博士领导的研究团队证实,数百万年的蚂蚁农业已经重塑了植物生理学。蚂蚁农夫将富氮的粪便直接沉积在植物中,从而促进了这些具有超强吸收能力植物结构的进化。这意味着,蚂蚁衍生的营养素主动靶向超吸收性位点,而不是作为副产物沉积。这一新的认识可能为我们争取粮食安全的斗争提供重要线索。该研究近日已发表在New Phytologist上。
