再过一个月，渤海海峡跨海通道（以下简称跨海通道）最终方案将定稿，形成一个总报告和12个分报告。接着，这些报告将以中国工程院的名义上报国务院。设计全长123公里的跨海通道两端，分别是辽宁大连和山东烟台。这一跨度也将使得渤海海峡跨海通道远超日本青函海底隧道（约54公里）、英吉利海峡海底隧道（约51公里），成为世界最长的海底隧道。
